I have a box wit candid. I pay by cc, but they will make you pay first and last month in advance.

No problems other than a support ticket takes around 5 days to solve.

I've used many low-cost hosts over the years.

I have a virtual acct with Candid, here's my assessment:

      price - great

support - good, considering price very good

performance - mostly very good. have had some downtime last week, but problem has been corrected

      never had any billing issues.

don't expect anyone to answer you on ICQ

no control panel - this they claim they are thinking about - it would save them money in the longer term

overall - I can recommend them for low cost virtual service. this is very difficult to find - there are plenty of places to get better hosting but you will pay, pay and pay for it.
it only took one brick to make that window drop

I've been using candid for a while now, I've had few problems with them apart from their support being so slow.

                  CANDID HOSTING: Ripped me Off!

                  Candid Hosting ripped me off?
I have had an account with them for 4 months and I found that their service sucks?BIG time. Here is why:

First, they forced me to sign a commitment with them for 6 months (explaining this to high cost of setting-up dedicated servers), even after they charged me $150 as Installation and Start-Up fee?

However, as I learned later, other webmasters who were and currently hosting their sites with them never heard of this commitment thing?but hey, that?s ok

Second, their servers were extremely slow and down several times a day almost every day (usually in night time, when nobody can check it!)?

Before I started to host my TGP with Candid Hosting, with productivity of 250-300% on mainstream server it was growing approximately on 150-300 new hits per day. So I realized that it?s growing and decided to move it to Candid Hosting??real professional hosting??

?Only then I learned that I made a mistake because my TGP?s hits not only stopped growing but went down?due to numerous down times?and technical issues?

Third (and the MOST confusing!), I have Intel-2 account with them for $250 per month, which includes (do not look for it ? they changed their ads already) :

                  - P4 1.6 GHz processor
                  - 512 DDR RAM
                  - 150 GB of data transfer
                  - 40 GB of disk space

When they realized that I no longer interested in their service they sent me an invoice in January for November?s bandwidth overuse in the amount of $147.50 (98 GBs of overuse!!!)?which means that in November?02 I used

                  150 GB + 98GB = 248 GB

They told me that those 98GB of overuse are showing in their MRTG report and I have to pay?
But, excuse me, I wasn?t given any MRTG reports?I never heard of them...

?instead I was given server?s statistics by Candid Hosting provided by Webalizer Version 2.01 and it showed that I have used following amounts of bandwidth:

                  October 13.9 GB
                  November 78.6 GB
                  December 45.6 GB
                  January 57.9 GB
                  February 00.2 GB

I was hosting 2 sites with Candid Hosting: tgp and paysite.
Please click on links below to see stats for those sites (where cyberforma is the name of my server):
                  Tgp Paysite

Then I was told that Contract says about that (MRTG), but we were looking for it together (me, Mark and some tech guy) but could not find any single word about it, aren?t we Mark?
PS. They also said that for another month I used 147 GB over?

PPS. When I contacted them about closing (cancellation) of my account, they said that will not cancel my account until they receive a full amount of money?

PPS. Now they are claiming "their" $647 instead of $397 through COLLECTION AGENCY...

Actually yes we -DO- have virtual hosting with control panels now...when singing up, just ask to be placed on a virtual machine with H-Sphere...and it shall be done.

                    No extra fees either.

                    Hope that answers that question.
