Browse the folder where the vids are in with ACDSee 4.0. Select them all and click the right mouse button. Then choose "convert to... - JPG" and it's done.

is there any way to use this software to go through the video files and randomly convert screen shots to jpeg? i mean, can it make more than one single jpeg for each video file?

nops, I am sorry that will not work. You can tell ACDsee from which % of the movie it has to take the screen shot, so if you do this many times it will work, but the better way will be to convert the video to gif, bmp or jpeg (depends to the encoder you will use and the codec) and tell it to convert just 1 Frame per second, then afterward throw away the pics you do not want to have

            see also http://www.videocharge.com
It can split and convert films to Mpeg1,
make snap-shots with any size and quality,
            also in batch-mode.

Mplayer + a shellscript will do it just fine.

Here is what I do to grab a JPEG vid cap:

                  1. Play the video and pause it where you want the .jpg snap.

                  2. Lift your monitor and place it face down on your scanner.

                  3. Scan your monitor screen.

                  4. Save the file.

                  Done!

Try this - it works for me ...

                    1. Pause the MPEG at the frame you want a snapshot of,

                    2. Minimize the player window,

                    3. Restore the player window,

                    4. You can now use PrtScr and PASTE into your graphics editor; if you dont minimize/restore first, it wont capture for some reason

You can just turn off the hardware acceleration in the preferences and then you can grab a screenshot just fine.

I use Pinnacle studio pro to grab all my video frames, it does a great job. Or you can do as M P suggests that is probably just as good
