    Photography..

So I'm at an interesting situation.. I've got about 5 sites that are about to go live.. It's IMPOSSIBLE to find content for the niche
I'm focusing on.. I've spent a good 2 months putting together a knowledge base of all of the other sites in my niche (15 so far) and all of the content providers (4).. I've found a usenet group where people post some pictures like this, and I've religiously grabbed every pic there, for tgps of the ones that have affiliate programs.. Now the niche is based on a certain scene, and I know a lot of people in the local scene.. So I can get girls, and I'm thinking of making a few movies.. For the movies, I've got a friend who does lighting, and i've found a production company.. I figure it'll cost me $10k.. one of my customers runs about 4 dozen sites, and he knows the business in and out, but he's never done custom content so I can't ask him to help me much out except for how to get traffic, and how to distribute dvds (he's got a dvd/vcd/cd distribution companies) .. So that's no problem.. My main issue comes down to this :

I don't know dick about photography.

does anybody know any good websites/books/magazines
to recommend? I've got a spare room in my warehouse that
I'm going to decorate to kind of fit the element, but it's pretty
small (8'x8') .. I don't know if that's going to be too small to
light properly, but I can expand it out to be about 8' x 13' if I can get off my butt and find my tools (I hate building)..

I don't have much in terms of cameras right now.. I'm thinking of either getting a good professional used 35mm setup, or finding a digital camera.. My problems with digital cameras is I've never been able to take pictures with them that don't suck, but with regular cameras it's really not too hard.. Digital cameras (mind you, the last one I used was 2 years ago) seem to be rather low quality.. I've been digging around and hav efound some digital cameras for under $1000 (not much under) that can take real 35mm lens attachments, and I'm thinking that might help?

Anyways.. what I'm really looking for is a good crash course in
photography.. ANybody have any clues where I can start?

well, its kinda hard to start from scratch ... I'd have a better option for you - we can do all photos and videos for you, you say what you want to have done, we get girls, shoot them, do videos and you got your own unique content and only you are the owner of the content so you can do with it what you want.

For more info icq me or white me email:

      here's some tips:

      1) If you're going digital, get at least a 3.3 megapixel camera.. I would suggest Sony's F707 or one of Canon's newer digital cameras... most are around 5 megapixels right now. Expect to spend about $1300 US on a good digital camera.

      2) Get some lighting. Good lighting is everything, it will prevent your shots from being grainy or shadowie (is that a word??)

      3) 8' x 8' might be a little too small, but it could work. As long as you can fit your lights in the room, and give the model enough room to work in.

      4) There are a TON of photography websites out there. Do a search on altavista.com for "photography tips" or something. There are also some good magazines on photography at any magazine stand.

      5) Work within your budget. If you can't afford a $1300 camera, start with something smaller, or go 35mm. You can always upgrade later when you know its making you money, and you get good at it. You might even be able to make your own lighting setup with a bit of creativity.

Does this have anything to do with the SKA scene? (just looking at your name)

Hit me up on e-mail or ICQ might be able to help you out.
