    should I start another site?

I'm a new webmaster, having only run a site for a couple of weeks.

I'm yet to see any sales, and I'm only doing about 30-90 uniques a day so far, but it's growing slowly. I'm enjoying watching it grow, and meeting some cool people on the way, but I wonder if I should branch out already.

Should I wait until I'm generating revenue off one site before I jump into another? My main concern is time as I'm only doing it after work hours, but I want to be in a position to be doing this full time sooner rather than later.

Those of you running free sites, please let me know how you approached things at the start.

My aim is to run a few niche sites, but don't want to overload myself and to let any of them suffer.

    thanks.

I rekon you should focus on the one you've got and build it up a bit more first. Use your first site as a learning experience then branch out. Learn some of the pitfalls so you can avoid them next time around.

    My anyhow.

What type of site are you running? Have you considered purchasing traffic to help grow it?

If it's a TGP then I would buy some traffic, learn the ins and outs of trading, then open a second site once you are at a reasonable size. From then on you can feed your new sites with your existing traffic and hopefully you will never have to buy traffic again.

(edit) I presume it's cafehooters which is a TGP, go and buy some traffic from Choker to kick start it. Try to get niche traffic if you can, general will have a lower prod.

It's a natural big tits site. I had considered buying some traffic, but am worried about the cost. I don't have a lot of cash at the mo, because my girlfriend had a couple of weeks off recently and we're a bit skint.

he doesn't have a big tits niche... maybe I should try some general traffic and see how I go.

I have some trades in place, but they're not all sites of the same niche.

ok, I'm going to pay choker now... it's only US$7 after all...

I was reading your trade requirements. Aren't you being a little to picky/strict?

No resizing fullscreen( a lot of webmasters use this option)
No Trick Redirects ( doesn't everybody do that with their trade script?)

Anyway, I got started back in as a senior in high school. Got three permanent listings to three sites. Got 3, 000 a day from the start. Then I learned from my mistakes and started trading rather then depending on listings.

Anyway the point of the story is:

Try to get listed at as many link-lists as possible. Also get listed at http://thelinksmachine.com/

Another way to get traffic is to make another site. Make a CJ hosted on free space, use thumbnail previews. Use this CJ site as a source of traffic.

Now trade traffic with these two sites and watch them grow.

not me. as a surfer I get annoyed at that stuff, so I don't go back to those sites.

I have tried, and I am listed on a lot of sites, but a lot have minimum trade requirements I can't meet. I'm planning on buying some traffic, tho, so that might make my life easier..

if by CJ, you mean Circle Jerk, then thanks, but no thanks.

I will not have anything on any of my sites that would piss ME off. Sites that deceive their users are cutting their own throats.

It was an effort to tell TTT to go to the link I specified every single time. It's like this whole industry depends on deceiving people and that it's situation normal.

don't get me wrong, that sort of thing has made a lot of people rich, but I'd rather not get rich that way.

call it morals, or call it stupidity, or call it not wanting to kick my own arse....

well first grow your first site a little bit more..
then when you start your new site you can promote that site with you old one
that will make it easier to get traffic.
also you can make some nice link exchanges between them ;)

yup, I think I'll do that

I've figured out my trading script (TTT) a lot better now and am starting to see where my productivity is going and coming from

still haven't heard back from choker about buying some traffic tho

I can't go back to burger king. I'd be too much competition for you.

Learn the in's and outs of traffic with this first site (if you can't build this site up, how are you supposed to know how to build the next site up). Once you think you have it down, move on to the second site and go from there!
