How many content for gallery site

Hello,
for a while I make this question, what is the right number of content / gallery for a site?

I did sites with 1000 gallery, others with 600,000, but because of continuing problems and upgrades, which have affected or decided the performance of a website, I have not yet clear what the right number of content.

I think should be considered a few factors:
If the contents are few visitors do not find what they want, or they can not find you (especially on search engines).

If the contents are many, probably search engines do not index them all even. No one will look at all ever. But not knowing what people search, you have more chance of being found.

Surely the right number is somewhere in between, but I do not know what ...

Can you help me understand?

If the contents are many, probably search engines do not index them all even. No one will look at all ever. But not knowing what people search, you have more chance of being found.

That is why you can add a sitemap to your website. You should not add all the content at one time, but update the website frequently, then the search engines will index your pages properly.

I don't like to use just rss content without adding some more text. That is just me. I like to come up with my own titles and descriptions from time to time. I need to do that more myself. Write a little paragraph describing the pic or video scene.

I would think 10 new pages with unique, human made text would be better than 100 titles with the same text as 1000 other websites.
