I am very experienced in mainstream and its not done there. Why is it standard practice in adult to trade traffic? I don't really get the benefit. You lose traffic to gain an equivalent amount of traffic. Hmmmmm?

There are quite a few mainstream sites that trade or sell traffic either with a homepage link exchange or a links/partner page exchange or by using an ad network to sell spots. Personally I don't trade or sell traffic on my mainstream or adult sites. I buy a ton of it though, just prefer to circle all my traffic to my own network linked on each property. -

when i was working more as a webmaster, i didn't trade any traffic, because you have to control the qualilty. The trading scripts available are good, but you must always have a look.
