    list building

    Hello
I'm in the process of building an email list and I have checked out Aweber.com and GetResponse.com for managing lists and their prices are horrific! For example if you have a list of up to 500,000 you will be billed $235 per month!
And a list of 500,000 is not a large list (by internet standards). I keep hearing of marketers who have lists of hundreds of thousands! So how do these big marketers do it...surely they don't use Aweber and pay hundreds of dollars per month?

Check out Ynotmail and $235 is nothing if you can get in the inbox of a list of 500k.

      thanks Wizzo
I made a mistake, it is $235 for a list of 50,000 addresses, NOT 500,000. Which is a very high price for a very small list (in my opinion). With Ynot 500,000 emails is $750 per month. I suppose what it comes down to is that if you know what you are doing, and if you have a good product and if your list is very targeted, etc, then that kind of money is small change. But if you are starting out, and working on a hit and miss basis, like me, then these email prices are prohibitive.

Learn some things about PHP and MySQL and set up a database with your host. Its a relatively easy process and shouldn't be any more than you're paying for hosting (assuming that's what you're doing). Check out the tutorials at tizag(d0t)com and w3schools(d0t)com for beginners resources for learning PHP and MySQL

I suspected there must be a cheaper way to do it
