I think it's dumb to pay so much for something that doesn't even run 1/4 of all the apps and games that's made for Windows. You will get better hardware for the same money if you go for a PC.

If you want something secure and stable, just buy a PC and install Linux or FreeBSD.

FYI, Apple hardware will run OSX, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD without any issues. I have a PC that runs OSX...but it wasn't easy getting it properly configured. So, technically I can run all that you mentioned AND MORE.

from what i see, it is typically the other way around. all of my friends who have no idea how to use a computer get macs because they think they are virus proof. They actually believe that. Also, you have to take into consideration the amount of people that use PCs compared to MACS. Old school MAC users, maybe. They know MAC very well. Most PC users are just people browsing the web. 12 year old kids, 90 year old seniors. Ofcourse you are going to get more users who dont know what they are doing, because of the # of users and the difference in audience. But things are changing now. I know a lot of retards who have no idea the first things about a computer. They have MACs because they are cool and dont get viruses.

My Macbook Pro I bought 5+ years ago out performs the laptop (of equal price) my gf bought 2 years ago which is now on its way out the door. She uses that now and I have a Macbook Pro that a company bought me about a year ago that I use for business.

However, when it comes to doing stuff in Excel and using multiple monitors, my desktop PC blows the Macbook Pro away. I've connected a PC laptop to multiple monitors in the past but seems like the Macbook just doesn't integrate as nicely.

The only thing I have not tried is a Mac Pro (tower) yet but don't feel like spending that much on something I would probably not like.

yeah a few programmers that I know switched to mac after the UNIX OS came out, other than that I always hear from people with both that basic numbers crunching goes a bit better with the pc... I know a shooter that dumped all his PC stuff because he thought everything would run better with mac... it doesn't. photoshop is just as probelmatic on the mac as it is on pc... in fact only issue I every really have is adobe ps... other than that no problems at all really

My brother in law is a hardcore MAC user, and I fail to understand what makes a MAC better? Their shit looks great, truth be told all I ever see is a monitor and keyboard - and my flats screen monitor looks pretty cool. Seems to me MAC is slower, costs more, and limits what software I can use.

HDD failed. I was in and out of the store in 20 minutes, but had to go through restoring my apps and what not.

I didn't get the SSD either, but after this wish that I did.

To the right is a PC and all to the left are two more PC's.

The big Black case all the way to the left is the exact same specs as the PC on the very right, just a different case.

Both PC's are much faster and far superior to the 12core Mac Pro!

I know how to use every bit of them and I have the gear to prove that it all boils down to preference in the user interface "operating system"

Dude you are so wrong. Mac's are great machines. I too resisted the urge until I finally had to "cave" to buy a mac to get long battery life. Since then In the past 2 years I have been slowly swapping our PC's for Macs. They are great.

At the end of the day, I use what works for me and has been working for me since I have been shooting and editing porn. I may have paid more, but at the end of the day, i'm happy with my choice and have zero regrets.

I would be curious as to the format of this file. All video is encoded as .dv Other movie formats such as .m4v, .mov, .mpg, etc are easily exportable on a PC

Yup that is the file format, Premiere does not see it or open it.

I have CS3, CS4, CS5 Master Suites. .dv will not open in Adobe.
