How do i make so that if the comp is idle for x amount of time it automatically logs off the user smf gos to the logon screeb?

try under

Control panel->power options-->

set the SYSTEM STANDBY to your time you want

then under ADVANCED

set "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby"
(most likely is already checked)

this should work
