wot no raid? it's a great first-line of defence... problem is with raid, is most people with it don't even set up raid monitoring so if there's a problem with the raid that degenerates over time, it's often too late to recover from...

Sucks to hear. If you don't mind, may I ask which hosting company you use?

Had something similar happen to me a little while ago. Everything on my laptop was backed up on server, and everything on my server backed up on my laptop. Both went to shit on me in one week.

Double redundant backups for me from now on!

What's your hosting provider? Are you on manged or self-managed?
As the guys already said before... if you value your business... etc etc
There are many ways to be more safe, raid (when you're on dedi box), cloud storage, better backup management system, local backing up (this not necessarily has to be pain in ass, it can be automatized, once you setup your secure script to back up files and databases then it's just a matter of pressing one button or even better you could put it on autopilot with task scheduler) ...

Been with Amerinoc/Phatservers for years. My drive failed a couple days ago. Luckily have a raid. Mike & Chris were on it right away and everything was back up and running in less then 10 minutes. Great job guys
