I am looking to get a new Nikon and would like to know what model is considered to be best right now in the mid-range and also a decent all round lens. I am just going to use it for recreational photography.

I have been leering at Canon as well but I am not sure I will make the switch unless there is some real big advantages.

I have a d90 and consider it to have a major advantage over all the other 'prosumer' Nikon line.

It has a built in AF motor, meaning you can use a wide variety of lens that many of the other bodies cannot.

I'm very happy with the camera.

d700 be about the best... lens depends on what you are going to shoot. the 24-120 f4 isn't too bad
