Bandwidth theft

I had to laugh last night so hard! here's the story:
As you know I post a lot of pics and always post link to my site. In 99% forums where I post my pictures I post them in "funny pictures threads".
On some forums they don't allow links so I stopped posting links. On vast majority of forums they allow it and I post there.
But you always have people who don't like it so from time to time there's always some who accusses me of spamming so I always says in such cases that if you hotlink pictures from some site you using his bandwidth and it's ok to give credit to that site and last night guy from one forums replied to that:

who cares if the people that post their pictures dont take the time to protect their own images and bandwith

So hes ok with theft but don't links to be posted?!?
I asked him is it ok than to steal his car if he left it unlocked! He didn't replied.

So what you want to say that stealing isn't stealing if you steal something cheap? And this isn't about worth of bandwidth.
This is about claim that it is ok to steal something if owner of that thing didn't protected it.

oh no no. you misunderstood. What I meant is that BW is so cheap so many companies have removed their hotlinking scripts to get more views on their stuff. I didnt say it wasnt stealing. I just stopped caring about that in 01/02

I know it's next to nothing but you can't excuse stealing by saying he didn't protect it! And that's all I wanted to say.

These days hotlinking images by unauthorized persons is more of an irritant that a real issue ...

images i dont mind, swf files i do mind, since its allways the same countries stealing and trying to profit from it.

lots of turks hotlinking videos for their own tubes. and then profit from your bandwith
