Anyone else having massive problems with ICQ?

I have a problem with it always telling me that I have to upgrade it before it'll load, then after clicking NO a few times, it loads fine.

It also recently started showing a small flash ad inside the message window itself (I have all other ads blocked), and whenever it does that, all of the drop down menu's in ICQ as well as the right-click menu on the ICQ taskbar icon fail to operate. Forcing ctrl-alt-del.

But you know, other than that it's a piece of crap. ie: normal.

I use http://www.pidgin.im/ It supports icq, google talk, aim, yahoo, msn, irc and a bunch of others.

My only complaint is when it adds people, I can't view who they are first and how it handles authorizations, it can be gay. Other than that, it rocks, connects, and isn't a giant bloated pile of crap while it sits in your system tray.

It's trillian for me too, but if I just tell it to connect repeatedly, it amazingly works eventually. I do notice my productivity has decreased though...

Exactly. There's no reason why people should have to download alternative chat clients just to use a certain program. I shouldn't have to use trillian to get onto ICQ when skype works just fine without a bunch of other random shit.

Even AIM works better, and AIM sucks.

Yep. ICQ is not even in the same league. The ease of getting business done on Skype in comparison to ICQ is amazing. Honestly, for the last few months I've been asking for everyones Skype contact and trying to conduct conversations there instead.

Yeah ICQ has been giving me problems when using Trillian...it's pretty annoying. I wish the adult industry would switch to a more efficient method of doing business rather then use the old pierce of trash that is ICQ...seriously who the hell uses ICQ outside of adult?
