Hey guys, I am using a proxy server to hide my ip address - well at least I thought I was...

If I view my ip address here http://www.whatismyip.com/ it shows my proxy ip address ( it does now show my real ip address)

but if I view my ip address here http://www.hostip.info/ it shows my real ip address

How is it possible that hostip.info website can still see my real ip if I am surfing through the proxy server?

I am using Firefox 3.611

Some proxies disclose your real IP in the headers. That is the difference Also it is possible for scripting to reveal your IP as well as other things such as cookies in some cases.

I just tested both with proxies from anonymous-proxies.net and it passed both tests.
