How to get Java installed on Win XP?

I got a new laptop and discovered that windows xp home version does not have java installed for explorer. I can't find it anywhere on Microsoft's site, and when I go to download the Java Runtime Envirornment from Sun's website..the server always craps out on me.

Am I paranoid that MS doesn't want me to have Java (needed in a few places I go with Explorer), or what am I missing to get Java installed into the browser?

back when i just had installed XP i got a promt everytime IE wanted to load a applet and i could say Download, so i said download ;)

Yeah...that's one of the links I've tried to download it from.
But the server just keeps crapping out. Maybe it's just my timing and the server will be working later tonite or tomorrow.

It comes with sp1 ( servicepack ) downloads from MS, but only if it's a reg. version af XP

Actually that service pack ain't available anymore..Apparently in February MS won a suit blocking their installing Java with explorer.
So, the NEW service pack that is out is..I believe..sp1a

MS certainly seems to have a hardon about java!
