    Help! ( Canadians )

I've been screening rental properties in Toronto and it looks like they have a one kind of kitchen stoves everywhere ( pictured here ), i'm curious is it electric or gas stove? If it's electric how good is it? I mean in Europe we have ceramic panels for electric stoves and those I see in Canada look outdated.

I'm not a snowback but it's clear that's an electric element.

The best way to cook is a) on real fire b) gas c) electric.

Just found this browsing The Home Depot Canada, curious why i have never seen that in rental houses? Or 1k-1,2k rental apartment will never have this kind?

Btw, do you know if it's generally allowed to change the stove in case i want using a better one while renting apartment?

its because they are expensive. remember when you are renting the landlord is not out to make the apartment as nice as he/she can, its to make money. those stoves (in your original post) are probably $300 versus the one above may go for $1k or more

also, keep in mind they are assuming they are going to have to replace that every few years from tenant abuse, so they want to go as cheap as they can.

if you ask the land lord, im sure they would be willing to allow you to use your own stove in the place

I have an old electric stove and oven combo like that. It's not so bad. If I start with hot tap water, it only takes a couple of minutes to boil.

As far as the oven portion, electric keeps a more predictable temp than gas so you'll be good to go.

why are you moving to one of the most expensive cities to move to when you have an entire country to choose from?

it's a rental property, why would you spend anymore than you have to?

Well, my essential choice is Halifax by the way. But I was offered a job in Toronto so I am considering its vital to start off in Canada.

A lot of people eat for the taste of the good tasting food. After humans discovered fire, they began to think that cooked meat tastes better than raw meat. Now, we have the stove invention already. I think it makes sense to eat based on a good diet - to (1) lose fat and (2) gain muscle.

That stove looks like an electrical stove.

There is nothing wrong with that stove.

When you get here you'll find 100 other things to worry about then having a gas stove, there isn't anything wrong with the electric ones.

pretty picky for a guy looking at rental units. When you buy a place, then you have the right to bitch about the appliances.
