streaming video server help

Which one is the best. i have a linux server at caro.net which is great for streaming video's. But i need to know what to pick. Its hard to find anything about it. So far i have seen FMS flash media server. helix, darwin (can be modified to run on linux), red5, xmoov (not really a streaming server but a script), wowza.

Which one did i miss and what is every one else using?

Flash media server is useful if you want to use their protection protocols (called FlashAccess [read about it here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashaccess/ ]).

Major online content distributors like Hulu and MLB.com use it (if I'm not mistaken).

WMV don't really need to be streamed, Just send al windows user to an ASX file and it will be progressive stream.

About Flash MP4, just get and install KALTURA. http://kaltura.org Tons of info on how to use it. If Kaltura is over your head then Pay someone else because you don't know it. But what I am saying is that KALTURA is probably what everything else is created from.

ok i have choosen for katura, running it on my server now i can every one recommend this. But i have to say special thanks to www.caro.net (no ref code ) these guys specially Jason B helped me out real good. I can recommend this host to any one looking for a streaming server and a good host. Thump up for you guys

We advise on and configure all of these. The newest version of Wowza is even better - combine that with our free license of JW or flowplayer and its a great solution. Whether or not you choose us, I am happy to advise by phone.
