google analytics is free. i tired piwik but didnt like it. looked like it only tracked and saved data for a day or so but i didnt mess with it much.

Google Analytics isn't free. You're paying with your data. I can think of several reasons you might not want Google getting your traffic data.

Piwik saves data forever. Click the little "Day" next to the date at the top to change it to week, month or year.

For everyone saying statscounter it's actually statcounter however statscounter.com leads to statcounter so youre lucky. ;)
