I quite like hostgator. Fatcow and WPWebhost are also good for blogs.

Hostgator is best, because you can add IPs and they ain't to expensive.

Fatcow and WPWebhost only have 1 IP.

i am moving all my blogs from HG vps to liquid web dedicated servers...

i was putting 50 sites per vps account.. it was ok, but now i am putting 200 sites on each dedicated box..

i am hoping this helps site speed..

wp sites with lots of plugins are hogs..

Hosting is very competitive these days. There are quite a few great companies that offer virtual accounts for very reasonable prices and dedicated servers as well.

Every time I deal with Host Gator I want to run my fingernails across a chalkboard.

I have dedicated servers amongst many hosts but do use Host Gator from time to time for little sites. Use the coupon "CHEAPHOSTING" to get the first month for $0.01.

HostGator does have ffmpeg support. I have a VPS and a couple dedi box's with them and have never had any issues..

They always answer support messages and have 24 hour live support which I have used on a number of occasions even though it was my fuckup they still sorted the problem out for me.
The bottom line is if you are looking for a cheap host then Hostgator are good

I have to agree. I have some generic traffic generating stuff up on their shared servers and in the past 4 years I haven't had any major downtime (I am knocking on wood like a mofo right now) other than when some of their DNS servers went offline and made a mess for about 48 hours 2 years ago.

Would I use them for major sites that generate a ton of income? Hell no. That is when you move the domain to a private box. But if you're generating income you need to step away from the Lada and park your ass in a Mercedes... That is just common sense.

Hostgator support might be lacking for stuff like DNS zone edits etc, but if you know what you want done they can do it. I use them as well as some dedicated boxes, and recently added a gotwebhost virtual.
