There are many scripts on the market. I don't see any script that talks about load balancing yet. Along you don't see that I wouldn't even bother to try them.

I just dont see where all the bandwidth comes from. You see your cam and the user is sending video from their computer. No bandwidth from my server. Right?

That would be the smartest way, problem is that you then are not anonymous because there ip becomes public.

Good point mine is from www.chatroulette-clone.net and I believe squeezeboobs is referring to www.chatroulette-clone.com after looking at both sites I don't believe they are the same.

After looking at the link Our Customers and looking at their customer links on the .com site the script looks exactly the same as on the .net therefore both www.chatroulette-clone.com and www.chatroulette-clone.net may be owned by the same person.

We use Red5 for server side translation. P2P connection will be implemented as well in about 1-2 weeks and it is optional. According to our tests P2P is not always working and in 70-80% cases server side video translation is necessary

Price could be discussed. Basically there are some script available at lower price which are not working by one simple reason - they are using P-2-P connection with Adobe Stratus. This is good technology and could save server bandwidth as well as make stream connection between users faster, but the fact is it is not working in 80% cases because
1) people firewall their pc
2) use wifi routers with internal network with Internal IP address which is not accessible outside
That help to protect from Viruses and hackers but as result if both persons connecting with P-2-P are from Internal network that will never work.

Another method is streaming via the central server which will be always working until there are some very strict rules in Firewall.

In our VideoRoulette system we combined benefits of both technologies. User will try to connect P-2-P first and if no success connection with central server is used. For server side video rebroadcasting we us Red5 server which is Free.

We have build more code on both server and customer end and in exchange for that we charge more for the software.

Also,i dont like chatroullete present concept,it should be better organized like ability to register,pick type of person with who you want,and some other functions from social networks.In shortly a combo between chatroulette and social network script.Making just a clone of chatroullete would be waste of money.

I was actually considering doing sort of a mesh of ChatRoulette and HotOrNot where at the point someone's hitting next, you either do a rating or maybe even something simple like a thumbs up/thumbs down choice. Got ChatRate.com and some similar domains for that but just not sure it's worth doling out the time and money to do.

mesh of hot or not could be good, however in this case need to register each account in order to keep some history (otherwise what makes send to define who is hot and who is not if it will be lost after disconnect?) and in this case such easy-to-use concept like we see with chatroulette.com would be lost.

Let me know if someone want to make customized version of VideoRoulette - we are happy to do customization on Flash or PHP/MySQL at the rate $20-$25/hour.
