I found an old college buddy on myspace so I opened up an account to sent him a note.

Saw he logged in 2 days ago.. my message I sent still listed as "unread" and request as "awaiting approval".

Does this myspace junk even work right?

He probably thought you were a spammer. You'll have better luck on Facebook to be honest.
