I do not know of any 'free'.

I know of a few that I have seen that come with tube scripts, mainly non-adult. Then I have heard of a few people who will make you a custom one for $500-1500.00.

It's free, looks and works great, and has the xml text/image popup ads during video playing, but I can't figure out how to get it to play a damn video. It's apparently supposed to be hooked up to some RTMP streaming server or something I don't understand, IDK why.

Flowplayer is available in a free and non-free version. The difference between the two is branding. You can't add your own logo onto the free version, and theirs appears for the first second during normal play. They don't restrict your using the free version on a commercial site.

You can use their content plugin for generic ads, or they have several plugins for specific ad rotators. Check the Plugins page on their site (flowplayer dot org).

Be aware: Flowplayer takes some JavaScript savvy to get working correctly.

Good one, I use their player on my sites. Plus they support AdSense and a few other programs, not sure if it's limited to the paid version though.
