Fast anonymous proxy?

It's been quite a while since I have used proxies to surf the web so I'm a bit off when it comes to proxies these days. Does anyone know of a good, fast US based proxy? All the ones I've tried recently are extremely slow.

Also, I've been hearing a bit about anon web surfing via the Tor network so if you have thoughts, opinions or info on that vs proxies, that would be great.

Just hit up your host and get them to setup tinyproxy on one of your hosts.
