also, i've had problems using an old dos-based program that uses a sound blaster 16. win xp won't let me install my sound blaster drivers cuz they are incompatible, so it installs its own... however, it doesn't install sb16 compatible drivers as i had before!

any1 know anything about this shit?

We participated in the beta with rc1 & 2.

I liked the interface but it's a memory hog and after about 3 months it began crashing alot.

Some of the "features" like program grouping are great at first til you realize that the "features" really weren't intended for computer professionals. I clicked the grouping for internet explorer one time, only to find 50+ internet explorer windows running because of timed popups and exit popups etc.

Other than that my biggest gripe was that if you have two machines on the network they have to be using different serial codes or one of them will just stop working til a different code is entered.

Overall i thought the interface was nicer and the stability at first was better, but in the end I wound up switching my laptop back to windows me for speed and my desktop back to win2k pro for stability and control.

If you like Mac's though... you'll love WinXP.

      JMHO :-))

P.S. Have I told everybody to use our dialer & that I have the highest rates? ;-)))

        dos is gone for good.
win2k and win xp dont support dos applications. they still have the command line tho.

I should point out however that my assistant is still using it and does prefer it over win2k.

            Hooper,

i agree with you on the 'features' part. it definitely wasn't made for professionals.

besides for that, so far my problems are only with drivers with older things. there must be someway to get my win me sound blaster drivers to run on here!

oh yeah, i've been running it for days, and my system hasn't crashed yet! so it seems stable to me.
