i'm old too - that's why i laughed when i saw that nickname - on a board where the average age is somewhere in the 20's a TV actor from the 50's and 60's is pretty obscure. in fact when I saw it I got mixed up and thought Robert Stack was Robert Culp. i never watched anything he was in.

LOL...I just noticed this thread about me. I think "Unsolved Mysteries" is the best show ever. I even watched every re-run on Lifetime for like 10 years. It became a big joke with my wife (and then my friends) that I had a man-crush on Robert Stack.

And then I was watching this episode of "Unsolved Mysteries" one day where, apparently, there was this ghost in an old house who got a little "handsy" in the shower with the current residents. A married couple it was, and they both concurred -- in the shower (and only in the shower), apparently this ghost would reach down and jerk the guy's cock, and diddle the woman as well.

Amusing, but it got me wondering about something. Of course, part of me is weirded out by this, but the other (married guy) part of me is thinking, "hey, free strange shower handjob!" And so I asked my wife if, in her opinion, it would constitute cheating if a guy got jerked off in the shower...by a fucking GHOST. And for the first time, my wife was literally stumped on this cheating issue. Of course, I'm going, "Hey...c'mon...it's a fucking ghost, man...how are you going to hold that against a guy?"

And so then the argument was taken one step further (ok, it was me) -- so, if the ghost is the ghost of a dead *man*, is it a bona fide gay experience if the man-ghost jerks you off in the shower? See, now I'm backpedaling -- I'm thinking the afterlife aspect sort of removes all notions of gender from this particular handjob. And eventually some friend of mine, noting my Robert Stack man-crush, says something to the effect of, "What if you're getting that handjob from the ghost in the shower and you KNOW that it's actually Robert Stack's ghost jerking you off?" And I sort of grudgingly admit that if it was Stack's ghost, I'd accept the hand job. Not because I'm sexually attracted to either the dead or alive version of Stack, but just out of respect for the man's body of work, and his apparent desire to make some interdimensional border crossing just for the purpose of manually stimulating me in the shower. I mean, at that point, straight or not, you just have to throw a guy a bone (no pun intended).

So yeah, that's where the nick comes from. More than you fuckers bargained for, I know.
