    Computer geeks

    ...Dcom Server terminates and the computer shuts down. Why and what can be done about it? I have googled and have yet to find a solution.

      Well, we also need more input. You don't even mentioned what windows version you're using.

      The service terminates by itself? How do you know it terminates, you get a message before shutdown?

      Or did you checked event viewer?

          Windows Vista...and yes get a message before it shuts down. In safe mode with networking the same thing happens but apparently does not happen in safe mode without networking. I have ran several malware programs as well as virus programs and trojan programs. Each program found something the other didn't but did not fix the problem. Had to run the programs in safe mode as it will shut down before they can finish running in normal mode.

            Hmm I see several solutions with a simple google search.

            I suppose you tried the 'shutdown -a' trick to disable the shutdown timer and then scanned with malwarebytes?

              I found proposed solutions when I did a search...none of which have corrected the problem thus far...but thanks for your input.

                Start -> Run -> type "services.msc" without quotations
                Select "DCOM Server Process Launcher"
                Right Click -> Properties
                Change Startup type to Disabled
                Click on Recovery Tab
                Change all failures to Take No Action
