Too vague a question to share thoughts on with any degree of specifics. Transparency in what context? It's like asking people to share their thoughts on life.

In a personal context. Business is business [irrelevant]. Meaning: The practical application of the ideal of giving everything up so that no-one has anything they can hold over you.

I guess it depends on where and how you would do that. For example, if you are going to run for political office and you have some skeletons in your closet it is probably best to air them all up front so nobody can pull them out later at a crucial time.

The same can be said for relationships. If you get involved with someone at some time it is probably best to be pretty transparent with them (obviously only if the relationship is getting serious) this way if you have some kind of baggage in your past they hear it from you, not someone else.

Of course there are times when it could be bad. If you are competing with someone on something, it is probably best not to tell them your weaknesses.

As a whole I think transparency is a good idea, but there are times and places when it is not a good thing.
