    Win XP Problem.. HELP!!!

    Help!!....

Whenever I open Notepad and Firefox, they go right to the taskbar as if they opened in the minimize mode, and I cant restore them back to the desktop. I get ll the right click options but, Restore and Maximize dont do shit...

How do I fix this so they open normally and not minimized?

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might sound like a stupid question, but have you tried a reboot? My XP starts doing funny little things after it's been up for a few weeks...

May or may not be a virus, but that's the first thing I think of when programs start acting funny.

Just to clear my mind, I would reboot into Safe Mode with Networking and run an online virus scan at Bitdefender.com. Works on Internet Explorer only.

More than once... I cant get those 2 to maximize from the taskbar. When they open, they minimize to the taskbar and restore, maximize dont do shit

Make sure there isn't tiny little windows opening when you open them. I used to have that with xp sometimes. Open in a window so small you could hardly see it.

Actually thinking about it, I had more problems when I ran a dual monitor setup with xp where the windows would be "off" the monitor. Happened a lot going from 2 monitors down to 1. May be the windows are opening outside of your field of view.

I just thought of something... do you have more than one monitor? If you don't have that setup NOW have you had it in the past? I've been in a situation where I forgot to disable extending the desktop after I removed a monitor, and a window has ended up hidden on the other "side"

Just a hunch. Maximise and restore don't appear to do anything because they're actually working on the other monitor.
