technical question about apache and lighttpd

So I wanna have x264 streaming plugin because when scrolling through mp4 files in flowplayer the player returns to the begin of the clip every time after dragging the scroll icon.

This plugin I am talking about exists for apache and lighttpd. I am running FreeBSD with apache but my host suggests to install lighttpd next to apache and sent all mp4 requests through proxy to lighttpd and thus use the plugin configured on lighttpd.

    My question is:
wouldn't it be a better and more stable solution to use plugin for apache as I am already using that instead of installing second webserver service and use proxy.

Also, do any of you have experience running lighttpd and apache together and using proxie to direct requests ?

    Please advise,

    thanks a lot

Your host is right and you are wrong.

Why would you even question your host? If they say it's better with lighttpd they are probably right.
History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.

Forget the proxy. Just change your MP4 URLs to point directly to lighttpd.
