The programs I am talking of use NATS as the backend.

I am sure that there are other solutions out there, but I just listed the ones that I know larger programs (one has about 7 sites and the other about 15) are using and are happy with.

I use SD for some older pay sites. However, I am phasing it out.

I have custom scripts, a few versions, running all my celebrity sites.

I have a modified, custom, CMS running my new tube pay sites. Three versions.

I am also working on a custom social networking, chat, cam CMS as well.

So to answer your question,... I prefer having my own custom built scripts done. I also will, on occasion, license those scripts out or sell custom pay sites to others for a quick infusion of cash here and there when I want some extra money.

now to answer the actual fucking question (without just trying to sell my shit), yes most sites are moving to prebuilt software. prebuilt software has better features and more usability testing.

5-10 years ago there just wasn't any quality adult cms to choose from. now there's a least a few good options. each has pros and cons. depends on your needs. i'd make sure a paysite cms is easily customizable (front and backend) because EVERYONE in this business has their own quirky way of doing business. you can usually get some references too.

oh, and just to point it out, my software is by far the best. fuck the rest.

We have many large sites using our CMS, MAS, which has been a CMS leader in the industry for years. I also don't want to come in here and spam my product with out answering your question, but I just don't know what percentage of the sites use a custom built CMS script over an out of the box CMS solution.

I do know with my personal experiences working with MAS and how easy it makes management, a lot of programs will have invested in it or one of the other ready-made competitive solutions already out there. I know companies are trying to stay away from reinventing the wheel, and if they want any customizations, I know at least for MAS they can get them easily with our development team...

Im using Elevated X and Nats.

If you know smarty templating it will be a breeze for you. We had to learn it and did everything ourselves which took a little time but everyone thats seen our tour and members area has been very impressed so I highly recommend EX. Nats is oviously top dog for affiliates and can be confusing but if you ask around a bit and try hard at it you will have no problems. Also their 2 over the phone walkthroughs help alot.

Anyway, guess you werent asking about affiliates, just cms. So I would vote for Elevated x, they have pretty good support too.

This is true. Why reinvent the wheel? Using MAS and working with Mansion is as close as you can get to having in house staff. They customized my MAS for me exactly how I wanted it and were great to work with. Don't want to mention any names but I tried another big name CMS before this one and the support was was not there.
