it depends on the connection the people will use to visit your site... if they are all on DIAL I don't see why that wouldn't be able to handle the requests...

2000 people at the SAME TIME?
You will definitely need Gigabit port, and probably multiple machines.

You'll need a heck of lot more bandwidth. Plus multiple servers to get around the numerous bottlenecks that exist in both hardware and software.

Even if 2000 people aren't viewing videos at the exact same time, but are still connected (ie. browsing the video descriptions, etc), that alone is going to generate a huge server load.

Do you really expect 2000 users to be on at the same time? ...or 2000 over several hours? The latter is more realistic and doable with a few or even one server.

Another option is *not* host most of the videos, but instead, basically, make your site a tube link site.

10Mbps full duplex port, providers still put customers on that? That is about 8.5 mbits maxed you cant even get a full 10mbps on a 10mbps full duplex port.

Please explain that arbitrary 2000 figure. 2000 continuous streams will have vastly different requirements than 2000 people using it on and off over the course of a few hours.

If you have that much built-in traffic, you should have some idea of how they use the site, and what the projected bandwidth consumption would be in the peak hours.

50 and 100mbps unmetered have become so cheap as to be a non-issue for a site with "2000" however you choose to count them.
