I thought Brad's acting was over the top and Schmaltzy and quite honestly the movie would have been better without him in it. However, the guy that played the Nazi captain named "The Jew Hunter" was an amazing actor...That guy was scary and funny all at the same time. I really thought he deserves an Academy Award for that performance. my 2 cents
Otherwise the movie was just decent...a lot of blood but cool at the same time. Gotta hand it to tarantino ...not a Pulp fiction but still a good time at the movies.

I agree with all you said. Brad Pitt's performance was not the most credible ever. In fact he almost seemed like it a caricature to me. I figured it might be done purposely by Tarantino to balance out all the "serious" characters in the movie. But yes his role definitely stands out from the rest in the movie.
The movie is worth seeing for Christoph Waltz' performance as Col. Hans Landa alone.

Agreed... although I prefer Kill Bill to Pulp Fiction.
I was dissapointed with this one. Had been looking forward to it for months and man, what a let down Had a few fantastic scenes and then a pile of tedium. Pitt was decent, i think the whole point of his character was to be OTT. What was the point of breaking the other dude outta jail then hyping him up only to see him killed off in the bar scene with barely 2 mins of screentime to his name. The trailers and hype made this seem like was gonna be KB1 meets WW2. Ended up with about 10 mins of action, 50% of which was in the trailer, and then a pile of sub standard dialogue (jew hunter scenes aside).

it was total fucking shit... the idea was cool... but pitt's acting was about as bad as it can possibly get.. the fake southern accent he tried was faker than your 11yo girl standing in front of a mirror pretending to do the same.... total fail but i had to see it.. normally i swear by QT
I saw It tonight. Thought It was pretty good. The Brad Pitt over acting and accent I think was supposed to be that way. If Quentin approves It, It for sure is the way he want's It.
One of my favorite movies of '09
Christoph Waltz definitely needs a golden statue on his mantle for his performance
I think what messes most people up is they are expecting some Saving Private Ryan BS and that's not what this movie is...it's more spaghetti western set against a WWII backdrop...
I also think Pulp Fiction is overrated....a lot of people seem to like it only because they feel they "have" to...I found the Kill Bill movies much more entertaining than PF, with my favorite Tarrantino flick being Reservoir Dogs...

It was all very intentionally caricature. So were all the other's performances. Go watch a few classic old war movies and you will see what I mean. That over the top schitck was totally part of it... come to think of it, that is completely part of what makes QT QT.
