Domain transfer and VPS

Where are the domains registered today? Do you need to have them with your host or is it ok to have them with a registrar separated from your host?

I recently discovered that having your domains being automatically renewed with some registrars costs a fortune and then some. Have started to look into Webair's 7.99/year, which is a very reasonable price when things comes around. At least as a kind of insurance for not getting fucked for like eight times that, for just a simple one year renewal. otherwise you could keep juggling the domains between two registrars, at about 7-8 dollars a piece and per year.

As for VPS, I cannot sing the love song of Amerinoc loud enough. They are enourmosly good to me, even when I ask stupid questions. And i love being able to communicate directly to their tech guys, all around the clock. When I work and run into problems, I don't have to sit around and wait for them to open. Even questions or problems marked low priority receive and answer, mostly within the hour. Amazing!
