A good band for another Rock The Ball could be Lars Frederickson and The Bastards or Scum of the Earth. Lars is the guitarist from Rancid and has some great songs. Scum of the Earth is the former backing band for Rob Zombie and sounds a lot like White Zombie! Both bands have some ties to porn, hell I'm pretty sure Riggs from SotE was at Erotica LA this year.

With all the recent threads about shows, wouldn't it be more valuable to a show to spend money on attempting to give attendees what they have requested rather than continue with the wow factor?

ie R&D on seminars and how to make them more information packed / interesting is something that stood out in the threads to me.

Those guys have aged enough over the years and changed into an unfamilar look you easily could slip in some real good vegas impersonators and look alikes and the webmasters would never know.

I was looking at the overall - what's the point of blasting huge sums of money on the ball when the money could be better spent elsewhere.

Well, the last couple of Players Balls we got huge name artists on a much smaller budget. E-40 & DJ Quik.

And I would only spend the money on huge names if the sponsors are able to get a nice ROI. The Ball is split up between big and small sponsors so that no one is stuck with a HUGE expense. Well, that depends on what you'd consider huge. But figure that in the past if the total costs for a Ball with big name artist is about $80k to $100k and a main sponsor only has to pay $20k, it's a good deal. Can that money be better spent else where? Depends on the goal of the sponsor. If they want as much exposure and hype leading up to the event, locking it in earlier rather than later would give them a better return.

Big name talent gets hype and excitement from our crowd.

Look at this thread for example. Would anyone be posting if I had cover bands and wedding singers?

how about this far fetched idea...find out who is playing in Vegas during that time that fits the bill for webmasters. then buy massive amounts of group tickets to the concert compliments of the sponsors and have The Ball After The Band party lined up in a VIP section or club that is in same space as the concert that can have all the signage etc. not sure how much it cost to do it from scratch with hiring own band, but amount of sponsor money might cover a few hundred concert tix, wristband goodies and party location. you save yourself a ton of work and could have a ton of fun working on unique marketing and promotions that could be tailored accordingly. So peeps enjoy a concert together and then a party with DJ tunes or whatever to drink and network to.

LOL would be awesome to see a ton of peeps in a concert section decked out Player's Ball style.
