    Best webmin tutorial?

Got my new server today. All my servers before this have been managed, so I have no idea how to set the thing up. On the good side it has webmin installed, on the bad side I know as much about that as I know about FreeBSD admin.. pretty much zero.

I have a week or two before anything needs to be up on the server, so I'm planning on learning to set things up myself rather than paying someone to do it for me.

Can anyone recommend a good beginner webmin tutorial? Online would be great, but I don't mind going to the bookstore either.

    Thanks

I was in this same situation in december.
      (let me guess.... UCG?)

If you don't know nix you better start learning. Webmin is just a html based tool to do stuff without using SSH... if you dont already know how to tweak apache/mysql set up mail servers ECT. you better get your ass reading.... Its nothing like CPannel.

I'd heard their documentation is very good, but I couldn't access the site the last few times I tried it.

Found this in the meantime: http://www.swelltech.com/support/web...1.0/index.html

Looks like exactly what I'm after.

Yeah, I'm printing the book now.

I used to be a systems administrator so its not like I'm a total blank slate.. but *nix was never my strongpoint.

Why not just put it on a devel machine and cut sick with it there ?

Best way to learn is to jump in the deep end, especially as you already have some idea what you're doing.

Goto google and type it in, there are a few good tutorials on there.

Ok ok, I noticed you want to do it all yourself but if you don't figure out how to set it up before your deadline, I can set up your server (ip bind, zonefile creation, apache setup, webalizer config, etc) for $20/hour.

Before you do anything you should shut down any services that you wont need and secure the server good, I've seen servers hacked within hours of being placed online. I'm not sure what OS you are using but here is a good Linux site for securing a machine.

Webmin couldnt be easier, but be careful with it, its a powerful tool. It runs as root and you could mess shit up if you don't watch what you're doing.
Hopefully when they did the server install they included Apache, Sendmail (if thats what you are going to use), Bind, etc. If so then its just a matter of configuring which is a piece of cake using Webmin. If not you have the fun task of installing them.

Have fun and if you need help with anything just post it on here
