Tomtom app on iPhone released - $99

Tomtom released their iPhone app tonight at $99. Seems a little high for a GPS app. They have to lease their maps from a 3rd party provider I think but still seems a little high. $10/mo for AT&T Navigator service though. Interesting stuff. Watch before you tap the purchase button though.

I am sure people will buy it. For people that travel a lot and rent cars it is probably worth it if car rental companies are charging for navigation. Does it do walking directions? That would be handy for tourists too.

yeah, all types of GPS stuff included. $99 for GPS seems high on a phone. google maps usually works 99% of the time in So Cal

TomTom and the other apps have turn by turn directions, google maps was provided to apple on the agreement it would not be used for turn by turn. From what I've heard the tomtom app isn't as good as its standalone units and will never be, most probably to protect its $$$.

I'd rather just buy a stand alone gps unit

                    The $110 app already out?
