    I hate DELL

    Talk about frustrating...

    We buy all of our servers from Dell. We recycle our old machines to use as development machines (along with old old desktops) but we buy new machines regularly.

    A 16 port KVM Died. I am trying to replace it. I am constantly being pushed from one Indian technical support person to another because they can't match the service tag or model number of our unit. I finally gave up and told them just to sell me a new one as this one's warranty may be expired anyway, but now this has made things worth. They keep transfering us to Dell USA and when I tell them I'm in Canada, they keep transfering me back to a "Canadian" service person (Also still in India), who cannot help me.

    So I hung up, went online, found the gadget we want. As its a bit of an emergency I call back and try again to order this part. Once again, I'm endlessly transfered from one person to another. 45 minutes later and I am STILL on the phone with them as I type this. The unit I want to buy is only a few hundred dollars. It has already cost this in total time spent just to order the damn thing. Incredible.

    So wait you are saying that it wasnt worth transferring over thousands of north american jobs overseas so we can save $30 on an HD?

                  I'm just about done with Dell also.

                  For some reason about a year ago they just shut off my line of credit with them. It was really the only line of credit I have other than my mortgage. So fuck them. Since then I have no incentive to buy from Dell, being as I'm paying cash. In the past year we've bought two laptops and two desktops. The two desktops are a Dell and a HP, and the two laptops is one Dell and one Acer.

                  The only reason I was buying Dell was because of that line of credit. Now, I buy what best fits my needs.

                      I started hating Dell when they fired the "burn out surfer" spokesman who made them what they are today Plus they are the worse piece of crap since compac. I bought compac once and had to send it back for repairs at least three times

                        Getting any kind of dedicated rep will help. The one I have gave me the customer service phone number to a call center in Alberta. I never turned back since. Its the direct line to get "white man" support. To hell with those outsourcers who just read a script and don't understand crap.

                                In Dell's defense, KVM switches(from my experience) seem kind of dodgy anyway. I've replaced 2 this year.

                                Although, its sounds like the service sucks.
