    DV Capture problem: Any idea?

    DV Capture problem: Any idea?

Pulled out an old desktop we used to use to capture regular DV.

All my capture tools see the camera and can control it....

But when I hit capture... none of the video is ever captured.

I can see the play location on the screen with my capture software... but not video is ever captured.

    ANY IDEAS AT ALL?

The most likely problem is the operating system. Some cameras just don't play well with anything before vista. And some older ones don't work with anything but XP.

And it doesn't even matter what you do, they just wont play nice with each other.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

    Webair, bitches.

I used this machine to capture DV for probably 3-4 years... never had a problem.
Even using the same old DV camera that I dug up.

      Any other possible ideas?

Are you using firewire or USB?

                  I found this :
                  Go to start, run,
                  type in:
                  regsvr32 %windir%\system32\qdv.dll
                  hit enter
(note: must be a space between regsvr32 and the first % sign.)
Got an OK box, and everything works great!
All programs capture and preview no problem!

I'm guessing it may be either a problem with the firewire cable or the port. Bent pin/connector perhaps?
