hard drive is 500 gigs but it shows 130 gigs in explorer, when I run everest it shows that its 500

what do I have to do so I can see it as 500 in Windows Explorer?

any ideas?

Maybe you need to enable 48-bit adressing for ATA drives
So... REGEDIT:

(if Win XP)

Create value EnableBigLba (it should be REG_DWORD) and give it value 1

tried that - didn't work, but it looks like this is the issue, I'll google EnableBigLba and see what else I find out

The way Vista is set up, the system comes PRE partitioned. So you lose to the Boot up sector and also to err.. something else. Dont remember..

What OS are you using. XP before SP1 could only see 128Gs.

Is it formatted 500Gigs.
