Anyone using the Core i7 for rendering?

Just built a new Core i7 machine the other day. Was tired of having renders taking 24 hours to complete. Now I'm getting my shit done in an hour and a half.

Well, I'm using a combination of stuff, but I won't be disclosing specifics. LOL The one that takes the most time is Sony Vegas 9 64-bit.

You're going to laugh. It was a Pentium D. Before that it was a Pentium 4 2.6 ghz.

The New i7's Rock!!! Super fast encoding, they are sweet as! I highly recommend grabbing one for anyone who encodes / renders.

                    WTF?

Are you afraid someone will render faster than you or something?

Nobody told me how to render to perfection.

I use a custom built Core i7 workstation running Vista 64-bit as my main video editing & encoding machine nowadays with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, the Cineform plugin Prospect HD ver. 4 and some other apps for video compression.

I'm thinking my next purchase might be the Sony EX3. The picture from my current AVCHD camera looks fantastic when transcoding from AVCHD to MPEG-2, BUT when I'm editing in MPEG-2, and then outputting AGAIN in MPEG-2, (and tweaking the brightness and contrast slightly) the image is getting slightly degraded. I believe the XDCAM format can be edited natively so I am not having to transcode from one format to another in order to avoid a transcoding step.

Also, I believe it does 4:2:2 which apparently gives a little more headroom than 4:2:0 for tweaking the image a bit.
