problem with saving pics from the net

Hi guys!
i got a big problem when I want to save a picture from the net I can only save it as .bmp. Even if the picture is jpeg or gif I can't save it as anythign else other than bmp. I use winxp. Does anyone know how I can fix this ? would appreciate the help

This happens to me a few times a week. Normally just opening the page up in a new IE window will take care of it.

Yes, you should delete your Temporary Internet Files, it's the solution.

don't have an answer for you, but My IE want's to save' em as .jpeg, tried everything I know of. And know they are not .jpeg's they are .jpg's

i got this working the other night by using

"email picture" then email it to yourself

long winded, but on this site I deleted my cache and it had no effect.

I did a search and found something about IE gets a problem sometimes when saving pictures from a password protected area or something.......maybe check this :

Thats probably in your preferences under something like "allow all file extensions"

A jpe is basically a jpeg with the g cut off.
