I as wondering if anyone had any success just building text only sites with lots of word and links and use Linkex to trade with other webmasters with similar sites. I am wondering what kind of SE traffic that would get.

the same se traffic as it would have if it included pictures too, minus the google image traffic...... and the bookmarker/return traffic would probably be extremely low unless you are talking an erotic story site

We do but they are part of a bigger picture. You can get anything to work if you are sending the right traffic to it.
