MAC users I have a question......... (Apple Post)

My relative ordered one of the new macs and i really dont know shit about the macs but..

She was told from the Apple guy that you can transfer programs from another Mac to new one and dont have to reinstall with the disks and so on?

Is this true cause she moved from Cali and her company installed all the software on her existing Mac... so to have her get the licensed programs reinstalled will be a back n forth with her employer...

    Thoughts?

If I am not mistaken, you can restore an image from a time machine back up to a different computer. I have never tried this myself though.

However, what I do know is that this is certainly possible with SuperDuper (www.superduper.com)

yes this is true... all apps are a .dmg file.. which makes the computer think it's a disk... I email apps all the time... and move them between my 2 macs...

I also store apps on external HD's

Hope this helps.. hit me up if you got more questions....

Just use Time Machine. It is already part of the Mac operating system.
