    Firefox question

This is probably a dumb question, but I haven't used firefox very long, and the fact that I can't figure this out drives me nuts.

I am big on saving stuff to my desktop to deal with later via right clicking and creating a shortcut.

I can't figure out how to do that in FF.

    Is it possible?

You want to change the download location to your desktop so it saved files to your desktop or am I missing something? Just want to make sure

Sorry for the lack of clarity. No, not downloads. Like if I want to create a shortcut to a web page and keep it on my desktop. So that I just click that, and go to the URL.

I don't like bookmarks, and that is what I always did in IE.

I don't think you can do that in firefox. The simplest solution to something like that would be to create a dir on your desktop that links to your firefox bookmarks file.

Then create a toolbar folder in firefox for your current session or however you like to do it.

When you are ready to visit those links, just click the folder/file on your desktop that you exported.

                Hope this helps

That works, Ben, and thank you for it.

The problem I am going to run into with that is when I have 10 windows open between the page I want to save, and my desktop.

But that certainly works better than nothing, which is what I've had so far!

That might be a workable solution. I can work with things in folders better than I can a long string of bookmarks. I bookmark stuff that I am keeping permanently. I save crap to my desktop that looks interesting and I want to check out later, but I can't devote to doing it right then.

                    If that makes sense.

                    Thanks muchly!

also, might also work if you just keep a directory open on your start bar, or add one to your quick launch that points to your desktop, and drag your bookmarks there

holding down alt while clicking a link will save the HTML file to desktop
