    start producing content

I've been looking into producing content. Lets say I have the models, I live in a place where its legal, I have the equipment and a good photographer. Who do I sell the content to? How much do they pay? And how much should I pay my models for doing it? Been a webmaster for quite a long time but I think its time for something else now. I would love the advice from someone that currently works or has worked on this in the past.

      1. Sell it to your own dumb ass
      2. Whatever your dumb ass will pay for your own shitty content
      3. Shoot the models then pay them nothing after, make sure to cum in their face, you may be gay though either way come in their face.

not the best time to start unless you are going to be doing something so unique.

You would try to sell it to webmasters, of course. But seeing how cheap everyone is, you will have a hard time to make money from it.

Many reasons, too many to cover in one thread, here are some the problems.

The entire business is full of pulp content, for 10 or more years most people cut back on the production price to raise quantity levels. So anyone who does not have a unique idea and angle that will sell to surfers will it pointless producing more cloned content that is already on 1,000s of sites. Exclusive or non exclusive.

You need to able to come up with something that has not been done 100s or 1000s of times before, yet will still sell. You then need to be able to find models who will carry out your directions so well the surfers will see the difference between your scenes and the scenes of people who have been shooting for years and even decades.

And this is the tough part. Today's models are no where near as pliable, willing and eager as girls from 10 years ago or even further back. It can be done but it's not easy and it's a skill a pornographer has to learn over the years. Directing Jill needs one approach, Jack another and Janet another one still. Producing porn is about controlling people, not a camera so your skills as a photographer are not going to help.

OK let's assume you can do all that and do it well with HD, perfect lighting, the styling spot on for the niche and models who are drop dead gorgeous. Now you have the real tough part. You have to sell it at a profit.

And there is your real problem, few will pay the extra to make a scene that is so different a surfer will want to join instead of watching 100 similar scenes for free on a tube site. And they won't give that job to a newbie.

                                            Ummmm, what he said.....

And..... the prices that most companies are willing to pay for exclusive content won't keep you in groceries these days.....

Luckily for me I've been around longer than anyone so I still have great clients and everyone knows I shoot content that's compelling enough to make surfers bust out the credit card. So I'm still doin' what I do....

That said new clients are harder to find than ever and want everything for nothing.

I would not want to be starting in adult content right now. A newbie doesn't have much of a chance selling his content and making a living these days.

There are always exceptions to the rule, if you feel strongly about it and are willing to eat ramon noodles for a while while building your client list. You may be the big boy of the industry in a few years. One never knows.

Bang bros came out of nowhere when every one on these boards was bitching about the decline of the industry and Brazzers wasn't a big player a few years back.... and they rose like a Phoenix from the ashes. So no-one can tell you that it can't happen to you, either....

I contend that we are both an atheist. I just belive in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

And..... the prices that most companies are willing to pay for exclusive content won't keep you in groceries these days.....
Thanks for the back up. The only part I disagree with is the "these days" bit.

Very rarely have companies been willing to pay the right money for exclusive. The business model for solo girl was 5 sets and videos for $1500 to $2000. And mostly at the $1500 end. It's not possible to get most girls to do 5 video masturbation scenes in a day and get them to put anything but a fake performance. She comes to the shoot knowing all she has to do is fake it and it's not even good faking.

A decent boy girl set and video non exclusive is worth $5,000 and upwards. In fact one magazine sale could be $5000 and it will be non exclusive. Yet few will pay more then $3000. But they will give you 3 scenes to shoot in a day. (Read the above.)

And then lots of sponsors want solo girl sites with exclusive girls. The problem is they want her for half the money she will earn working non exclusive with no strings attached. I had one very large solo girl sponsor tell me to offer a girl $25,000 plus a small bonus if she would work exclusive for his solo girl site empire. She earned $1,000 on a bad week and he did not see why she would not grab it.

All the above are stories from 3 to 5 years ago and nothing to do with today. I was recently offered $700 for hard core exclusive and $200 for solo girl. We can sell it non exclusive and make more, in fact most non exclusive sets make far more for the shooter than exclusive will.

Everyone talks about Bang Bus and only see that it was exclusive. It was a lot more. They spent money on making content 10,000 others did not have, for what they were doing they were pretty good, if a bit repetitive. And at the time it was fairly hard to find that genre/style on the Net.
