OK here is my dilemma. In the country I live in on a pack of cigarettes you can find the picture of a child that is about 1 years old with a cigarette in its mouth. I called the M.S.P here which is the equivalent to the Surgeon General in the States and they had expressed that it was a photoshopped picture and you as well could tell it was cropped due to some shadows not aligning as they should. My argument is this. Take the same picture and crop male sexual organ in there and it is considered CP. so why isn't this picture considered child abuse?

You think Governments should be allowed to do such things and get away with it in the name of trying to prevent people from smoking?

Wouldn't make much of a difference the photo is on cartons in display cases on packs where ever they are available and let's not forget the ass holes that throw their empty packs in the street in plane view for kids to see.

We are starting to get photos on the ciggy packets over here in the UK I dont think it will make any difference at all. If somebody wants to give up smoking, they just do it by themselves. What I find funny about passive smoking is you are more likely to be harmed from continually walking down a city center breathing in car fumes and rubber particles from car tyres. I see so many people jogging down busy roads or in the city centers and just laugh, they think they are keeping themselves fit when all they are doing is inhaling a lot more fumes. I used to drive vans and at the end of the day from driving all day especially in London When I blew my nose there was all black shit on the tissue and this only happened while I was driving. I also used to get it in my ears There was a medical survey about people living in citys and they had a much higher rate of lung disease and lung related illnesses like asthma.

Not at all. what i am trying to get at is, to me you can't say CP is not ok and then use child abuse to get people to quit smoking or be more conscience of the dangers of smoking.

It is not right to depict CP in any way shape or form nor should it be OK for the Surgeon General to get away with visual pollution in the form of child abuse

Here in Brasil they also put the most horrible pics on a pack. I'm looking now at a unborn baby in a glass full with black spots and a sigaret in his hands, saying smoking is casing spontane abortus.
