    Mac users with macbook pro

do you leave your laptop plugged in all the time?

i have had experiences before with laptop batteries that are ruined (PC) by leaving them plugged in all the time.

however, this new 24" led cinema monitor for extending the macbook pro desktop into a two monitor workstation charges the laptop by default. it has an actually power cord that you connect as part of using the monitor with the macbook pro.

hopefully this shit isnt killing the battery like in my pcs.

Get a stand for your MacBookPro, I got one and it helps it ventilate it so you can just keep it plugged in all day.

you should be ok but may want to unplug it once a week and let it fully run on battery until it's almost dead then plug it back in

No problems here, been using it plugged in for 1+ years every day and the battery still holds almost 100% charge.

thats what i am getting from the mac forums too. i just hate being on a plane, trying to watch a dvd and bam, 15 minutes later battery is dead. mac seems to have very good batteries. last night i sat on the couch doing a bunch of shit and i used it for a solid 4-5 hours and it hardly budged the battery.

i do the same with my iphone. i plug it in overnight maybe once a week to get that full solid charge, and the rest of the time i run it all the way down to nothing to keep the battery happy.

Mine is always plugged in and always on. It doesn't get quite as hot as the Macbook we have here too, so I'm not as worried about it blowing up.

                  No worries.

                  Spend you some brain.

The thing about letting the battery run down once in a while is useless - it only applies to NiCd batteries, not NiMH

i don't have a use for that bookendz thing, thats what the 24" led cinema display does.

                            huh?
Although it sounds like you don't have much need to unplug your MBP from the display, so guess not.

I have to separate mine from the display like 4 times a day, so the Bookendz is a godsend

get a real mouse, not the apple mouse with the "clit" as wheel. dust gets in there and it stops working after a while. and wireless in general is not the best idea, the bluetooth loses connection from time to time and i have to install the mouse again. better get some logitech mouse

The wireless mouse ain't worth the upgrade. Both versions work well for a little bit and the wheel has gone on every one we have. Each machine has a Logitech G7 that play nicely with OSX.

Can't you just pull the battery out? That's what I always do with my notebooks if I'm going to leave it plugged in all the time.
