    Nutra System Experiences Anyone?

Well, I finally did it , I quit smoking. I was up to 2 and a half packs a day and quit cold turkey, 18 days now. I no longer crave ciggs but Ive gained a few going through this tough time.

I'm looking at possible Nutra System. Seems like its easy to follow and everything comes pre made just follow their guides.

The price isnt bad either for a full month of food.

Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad with them?
    Can anyone recommend something better?

Don't bother. The portions are ridiculously small, and you'll have to supplement most of your meals from store-bought groceries. You'd be much better off purchasing a nice selection of healthy foods from the grocery store and creating your own meals.

Various people I know (mother included) have been on it, drop pounds and then gain it all back plus more. It does not teach you anything about how to eat better so once you stop buying their expensive food you are back to eating badly.

Agreed, if you want to follow a system which will help you lose weight AND stay fit, Weight Watchers is very good and they're very well organized too.

The very best with Weight Watchers is the system pretty much allows you to eat anything, so that way you'll avoid getting odd cravings without being able to satisfy them.

Here's some tips for weight loss and maintenance.

If you were going to make a full sandwich. Make a half.
If you were going to eat a full burger. Eat half.
If you want 2 scoops of Ice Cream... Have 1.

Cut all of your portions in half.

Here's what I keep in the back of my mind when I'm hungry.
"Eat when I'm hungry. Stop when I'm not."

Try to have 6 to 8 small meals per day, and once a week have a binge meal. Gotta shock the system so it doesn't get stagnant.

If you were going to drive the 4 blocks to the store... Walk.

Drink lots of water if you feel hungry. Fill up on water as much as you can.

Also, in day to day... Keep your stomach tightened, not stressed, just tight. If you catch yourself letting it out... tighten back up. Keep this up for a looong time until it's second nature and you do it naturally. This helps prevent getting that "Belly", as your stomach muscles are constantly being worked. It takes a lot of practice to do this subconsciously, but once you got it, you'll notice big differences.

I have tried it - snacks were pretty awesome, it teaches you portion control - but the lunch is just silly how small it is - so you end up cheating on lunch and that just ruins everything - if your anywhere near LA I have about 20 days of lunch sitting in my pantry your welcome to try

In the days before I finally admitted to myself that it is about calories and exercise (and insulin control in my case) I had been on pretty much every major diet program both in the States and the UK.

If somebody has to be on one of them then Weight Watchers is the most reasonable. The points system is really just calorie counting but they are giving a points value to a certain number of calories. It is still teaching you balanced and responsible eating. In fact, it was in my last WW attempt that I figured if I was going to count points that I should just get a calorie guide and count calories. After all, veggies have calories too and I stopped believing there was a such thing as a 'free' food. There is WW at home for those people, like myself, that are not a meetings type person.
