I know there are some German Webmasters here, ive talked to a few of you and was shocked to hear about how much you guys are taxed..

Over taxation & welfare system is a really big problem in many of EU countries... like Germany, but don't forget Sweden & Finland - Scandinavian welfare paradises! There will be really BIG problems quite soon.

Well, I am in germany now.. but I really don´t know enough about the current sit. to talk about. I was under the impression though that when he was first elected, everybody was happy. Kohl wasn´t the gold child either though.

We should all be intrested in this topic.

If Germany is supposed to be Europe's largest economy and if its going to shit fast, its something all of us should be concerned with in this Global Economy.

Last I talkded to some people they were even speaking of leaving.

If all the smart and ambitious and atristic people are leaving, (as it seems many are now doing) whats gunna happen.

I also think, that we got a lot of things going wrong over here and I´m not sure any more if it´s just a temporary problem. Since it´s getting worse every week (just read the news every day) our government seems to become a serious menace to our economy and our countries future. But the worst thing about it is, that most of the people who complain about it, don´t even realize what the hell is going on over here and still keep up with the politicians drowning the economy.

If that was true we'd all be very happy right now. Germanies biggest problem is not the current economy but the lack of children 'produced' here. In 30 years we'll have almost as many retierees (I can't spell that) as working people

taxes are not really a problem. In europeam comparison they are not all that high. The problem are costs for health (~14 % of your wage - half of it payed by the employer) and retirement (~20% of your wage half of it paid by the employer) insurances.

How bad are the taxes over there? I live in the American welfare state called California and everytime I do a comparison of what Californias pay versus Western Europeans, it rarely seems all that different. Taxes in California suck donkey dick....and now there even going up more! Yeah, that's a great way to get us out recession. Raise taxes and make the state an even more inhospitable place for businesses.

The only reason they can get away with the taxes in California is because everyone still wants to live here.

I was born and raised in the SF valley, & I got to live in the most gorgeous part of Cali (SLO county) on the beach for the past 3 years and still have LOTS of family in Cali....

HOWEVER, with all their taxes, overpriced houses, dirty cities and strange politics, I'm not certain if I'll ever move back...

The desert is home for now, and although we've briefly thought about moving back for the sake of being close to some fam/friends..it's been a VERY passing though and getting slimmer all the time...

Believe me, the thought has crossed my mind plenty of times. I've lived throughout this state, and although I've contemplated the desert, I think I like the ocean a little bit more.

i don't know about the germans, but i live in norway and things are really - really fucked up here. Im moving to Sweden now in about 2 months, where my money is worth about 3-4 times more than in Norway. Save up some dought and get the fuck out of there too, get some traveling agency or something to do some research for me.

Right now i pay 44% in taxes, but they continue to rob us on all kinds of fucking fees, just when you buy a car about 50% of the dough is going straight to the fucking gov.

The conditions here right now is Ok, but it's pretty fucking obvious to anyone with a brain this country is going straight to hell.
