    Mac pro memory

Anyone have any particular experience with a brand of after market memory for the mac pro? I just ordered one, and decided to look around for memory, rather than pay through the nose to have it included, but I know that not all memory really responds favorably, so i'm curious as to if anyone has ACTUAL experience with any particular brand, and what the outcome was.

I was actually looking at them. There are places that have better deals on more memory though (i'm looking at adding 8 gigs). A lower price isn't always indicative of a better deal though, so I've not counted them out.
      Thanks for the input.

I can't remember the exact brand I bought. Might have come from a place on amazon. Can always check Corsair or Crucial as well as they have good ram.

I did shop around too but I wasn't looking for the cheapest.
I wanted some I wasn't going to have problems with. And I trusted them.

Also look for deals on Dealmac

That's the direction I'm leaning toward. MUCH cheaper than the mac options ;)

bought 2gig of Kingston and since my Macbook pro resets randomly.. i returned the 2 gig for new ones and this is still happening..
When i remove the battery the resetting stops.. the ram is above the battery so i guess it's some heat problem of the batter heating up the ram too much.. dunno.. not a big deal as i do most my work on my iMac 24 3.06
What a great machine it is..

Mac doesn't use proprietary memory, so just find out the specs you need and buy a quality brand and you will be find. I have bought, Crucial, Corsair, Kingston, Gskill, OCZ without issues.

I've heard about lots of problems with Kingston, unless you take out the existing memory, and replace it all with the same make.

I just got whatever they had at Fry's. Been working great. I recommend 4 GB. Memory is so cheap now.

I bought 8 gb from them a week ago (4x 2 gb), and it's all garbage. Two of the dimm's read as 1gb instead of 2gb, and 2 don't read at all. Numerous emails telling me to try a million different things, all of which failed, and then finally no returned emails when I requested an exchange. I called them today and now I have to mail it back to them (ground of course), and wait for them to replace it. I bought it with overnight shipping, and it's going to take me probably a month (start to finish), before I have usable ram from them.

I'd never buy anything from them again, and wouldnt reccomend it to anyone else.

I ordered from crucial today, and it'll be here tomorrow, so at least I'll have a little more memory while I wait.
